Having a think i'm dying episode

Last couple of months i've been having occasional aches and pains in my legs, for the last 5 days its been major ache/pain in left leg, the pain starts at the base of the spine and engulfs a major portion of the left hip and extends to the left knee. Sleep has now become a rare event, over the counter pain killers arent working..
Any one else have similar symptoms? if so what was it and what helped?
Thanks

PS, have doctors appointment Friday morning..

The good news is that there's likely nothing wrong with your leg. The bad news is that something is pressing on the nerve root on one side of the spinal cord and they're going to have to figure out what that is and what to do about it. You can expect to have x-rays and possibly an MRI scan.

If it's a bad disc, they'll probably try a course of physical therapy to forestall surgery. If it's something else, they often go right to the surgery.

They've gotten much better at the surgery over the last couple of decades if it comes to that.

So I started sleeping on the floor. Felt better immediately, but it took a little getting used to, and a good year before all pain was gone. Now I haven't had a spasm in 2 years and I've switched from an air mattress to a futon style, but still on the floor. I think when I have the space, I'll build a platform for the futon mattress. Someday I'll have more trouble getting off the floor anyway.
I can sleep on a regular mattress for a few days, any longer and it starts up again I assume it puts my spine out of alignment or something

After four days of visiting my parents and sleeping on a soft mattress on top of a piece of half inch plywood, I could barely walk. The best thing for chronic back pain is a rock hard mattress like a futon. It's just easier to get up in the morning when it's up on a frame. It's certainly no softer!

I hope you will get complete relief and hopefully just with physical therapy or something non-invasive.

Feeling like crap today as both my knees are aching and i'm feeling rather queasy from all the pain killers i'm taking.Hopefully the doc has a cure tomorrow but i doubt it, he'll probably have me going all over town to get Xrays and lab tests or cat scans and i`ll have to endure this discomfort for who knows how long..

Is thrombosis where you have a blood clot? If so I think they have medicine to dissolve blood clots and prevent them from coming back.

I get sick with pain meds too. Wonder if your doc could prescribe an anti-emetic to help?

I went on an organic vegetable juice fast for a week and I feel 90% better. Now I juice once a day, and so far so good.
Also major stretching.
