14 years ago today my beautiful baby sister passed away.

Jeannie was a brittle diabetic from a very early age. She had a kidney transplant that lasted 12 years and lost a leg to sepsis from a burn to her foot. Because of her neuropathy she could not feel her foot burning when using a riding lawn mower. The foot never did heal and eventually ended in her amputation. But through it all, she kept up her spirits, While I would cry in frustration to see her suffering, she would always tell me there were others who were worse off then she. I ever believed that, but she did.

She fought a good fight, but finally passed away at the age of 45 from kidney failure. Your daughter Stacie, Vickie & Jennifer miss you terribly. RIP my darling angel.

It seems fitting that my very first post on DU would be to my twin sister’s post. We all loved Jeannie very much, and through her illness and all the setbacks she had with her health, she always kept her strong faith in her Lord and kept us from ever feeling sorry for ourselves when we thought life was hard or unfair. This is a very hard time of the year for our family but through the love we share for each other, we do get by, knowing she is in peace, with mom, dad, Arlene, and the others in our family who have passed on.

The tributes to our darling Jeannie from you both were eloquent and heartfelt. You spoke for our family, and we thank you.

Yesterday, when I went to the cemetery, there were fresh deer tracks in the snow a few inches from her headstone. She would have loved that. as she had an afinity for wild creatures, both winged and hooved. It is fitting that their path takes the deer right in front of her headstone with the same beautiful, smiling face posted here. Miss you beyond words, sweet sister.
