Cancer Support
Related: About this forum5 years ago I got my feeding tube prepping me for treatment.
Yesterday I got my next to last MRI. All clear.
The cure made a mess out of me, but I beat the odds and every day I thank the doctors, nurses, and loved ones that stood by me. Of I cant forget the great support I got here.
Thank you

Get ready to move on down the road from your illness. Such great news.

(34,382 posts)I bet it all improves massively after all that treatment is over for a while and behind you. That stuff can knock an elephant flat! Here is to hoping that moving down the road gets easier as you go along. So happy you are going to keep going along!

(60,145 posts)The radiation damaged a part of my brain. It also paralyzed my epiglottis. My lymph nodes in my neck have been somewhat inconvenienced, and I have to massage them daily. think of it as an enforced hobby.

(34,382 posts)or throat. I have a lot of experience with that. I nursed my mother for 4 years. She had throat cancer. I also lost a friend to that. Those are tough roads. I am so happy you are a survivor and your attitude speaks volumes as to why. You inspire me with my little problems. Time to stop mopping around and just get on with it!
I guess there are all kinds of hobbies, why not this too? I am so sorry you have to deal with that but I cannot tell you how incredibly happy that comment made me. You are going to do very well, it will never be as easy as you would like but you are up to the task.
My respect.

(60,145 posts)Ive accepted my state and seem happy.
The cancer was at the back of my tongue and on the right side of my neck.
At first I was told I could lose my tongue, but the cancer was external and hadnt grown inward. No tongue would have had dramatic effects on my life. I could not say la la la or lu lu lu anymore.

(18 posts)I don't know you, but I've been on this cancer journey for three years now after numerous surgeries and removal of part of my colon. I can only imagine the joy you feel! Congratulations!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!

(7,130 posts)I remember the day my oncologist said "You can come back once a year, but you do not have to...I won't do lab work".
I saw her two more times just for my own peace of mind. Then one day, I realized I was OK with not going.

(6,349 posts)I was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago and it returned four years ago and two years ago. Knowing that I was Stage IV was a real kick in the butt.
But hearing from someone still going after 12 years . . . well, it gives me life!
