Just found out this morning that my prostate cancer has spread to my lungs. They are going to put me on 6 rounds of Taxotere pending results of biopsy. I know everyone is different, but what are some things that I can expect from those of you who have gone through it.
Thanks

(1,089 posts)He got it for his 70th birthday, very much sucked. He's was in great shape for 70 though. Without treatment they gave him a year to year and half. He has now went through 2 rounds of Chemo. The cancer has shrunk over 50%. He didn't get sick at all during Chemo, witch was amazing, it actually made him hungry. He did get very tired and weak, walking through the house would tire him. His outlook is very good now. It'll never be cured, but hopefully he can live a lot longer.
Good luck with your cancer. Treatments get better and better. My Dad has stayed incredibly positive, I really think it has helped. I was maybe more upset than he was.
This is my third round with it. First the prostate itself, then the lymph nodes near where it used to be, now the lungs. And I'm only 50! Lol...so many more years of dealing with it, cause you are right, its never really cured, its just managed. Thanks.

(338 posts)Mine spread to the bone not the lungs. Ive had one round of chemotherapy and an implant to drop my testosterone to zero. This has worked well for me as this was four years ago. The chemo
really rung me out but did not make me sick. The implant reduced stamina and my libido. But I can live with that. Stay strong.
