Cancer Support
Related: About this forumGot the results of my last CAT scan today
They are not good. Apparently there is a "thickening" in my breast that wasn't there before, and I have four more spots on my liver (my original diagnosis was 4th stage breast cancer that metastasized to my liver, lung and some bones). I have been on Anastrozole since the end of last March. Will talk to my doctor next week about where I go from here.
To say I'm not scared would be a lie, but I'm trying to be neutral till I talk to the doc next week. Hoping there is some medication I can take (I won't do another round of chemo), but if not, I'll see about doing hospice to make myself as comfortable as possible till the end.

(5,946 posts)hope you are able to get your needed 5 hugs a day to better health. My dog actually gives hugs, so I have it covered.
I am wondering why they gave you results of a CAT scan without having a doctor talk it over with you, I can't get a blood test result without talking to a doctor. Medical business is a mystery.

(9,083 posts)He has always been good about calling me with results. I live in a nursing home 36 minutes away, so it's difficult to the office quickly.
Thanks for the hug I appreciate it.

(11,093 posts)I wish I could give good wishes (and I do) but that's a hard result to wrap your head around. Of course I wish you the best.
Being scared is normal. Lord knows I've had my share of tears. PM if you want. It's a fascinating thing, life is.

(9,083 posts)My last round of chemo wasn't as bad as some, but I was in a nursing home with staff that were there to take care of me. Now I'm living in an assisted living situation and the help is not so good. I'm not willing to suffer for 13 weeks (or longer) for a couple more months or even another year of life. I've also got the four spots on my liver as well that were not there on the last scan.

(20,226 posts)of heavy-duty chemo has done anything for me. I have to admit, in spite of trying not to think about it too much -I do feel a bit apprehensive. Physically, I don't feel any better - But then again going through a series of heavy-duty chemo is not going to make one feel much better - at least in the short term.
I can relate very well to these feelings you describe.
