I am an Internet Addict. Here is why.

Last edited Mon Jul 15, 2024, 11:36 PM - Edit history (3)

When I get on the ....INTERNET........it takes me away from everything that I worry about...
That is what addicts do. The internet takes into the largest library in the world.......(with access to
everything...and everything is ....... ANYTHING AT ALL.....(THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY}

It is what it what it is .. If Stuart wants to read this. It is there on the internet. ..........If Stuart wants
to read that ... it is here on the internet. If Stuart wants to look at dirty pictures, it is here on the
internet. If Stuart wants to read the "Latest Sports News", it is here on the internet. If Stuart wants
to buy a car, it is here on the internet. ... Does Stuart Got The Money?
....................... You name it, the internet has got it. ..................................................

Why has the internet got it? The INTERNET HAS PROGRESSED FROM A .........toy...
.......to the iron clad rock house of....INFORMATION ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.
.

Now, I am not the only one addicted to the ....INTERNET. My guess is there are millions of people
around the world also addicted to the
..INTERNET.......Maybe tens of millions or hundreds of
millions. I wish I had the solution, ...(I do know the solution, but I do not want to do it)......

Solution is: Unplug the plug or take out the batteries.... Which ever you do it will stop the addiction, if you
unplug the plug........or take out the batteries.... Do you want to........UNPLUG THE PLUG OR TAKE OUT
THE BATTERIES?....

1. I get away from it when I'm stressed out.

I don't want to be doom-scrolling; it just makes me feel worse, so if I'm worried or in a bad mood I usually close my laptop and find something else to do. Go for a walk, do some gardening, working on an art project, anything but the internet. It can be poisonous.

3. Thanks for your post. I'm going to try no Internet during even hours. So if I'm in an even hour like 2:30 PM, no

Internet. Except for things I absolutely have to use it for, but no DU, no social media, no news etc.

4. Another thing I'm trying: is to be hard core about not clicking on a post title that doesn't say what it's about

for example,

# 15,000 in 2020 down to 7,000 in 2024
# Listened to Jake Broe
# No, you can't effin script this..

No more mystery post clicking, no matter how many recs it has. Sorry, I really, honestly and truly have less than no time for that.

(2.) and absolutely not watch a video that's longer than 3 minutes, unless the poster directs us to a specific segment in the video to watch. And perhaps if the poster gives a summary of the important information in the video (something more than "this is another really insightful video from Joe Blow" ).

==========================
Ooops, time is up, I'm into an "even" hour when I'm not supposed to be on the Internet unless it is "work-related" where I define work as things I really need to do (I'm retired so I don't have job work stuff).

It would be very interesting if others share how they reduce their time on the Internet, so they can spend more time dealing with non-fun kinds of things like taking care of house repairs, decluttering (at least to the point of being able to find everything important), and so many other nags on to-do lists), etc..
