1. Yes, I am. I get very little done other than the basics of living because I spend too much time on Internet

I googled "Internet and Technology Addicts Anonymous" and found this but I haven't explored it.

2. I was hooked with a 300 baud dial up bulletin board connection.

Then Compuserve comes out and by the time Altavista started it was total
addiction.
Stayed away from AOL not sure why, something sleazy about the marketing.

My job included an acoustic telephone modem dialed into a GE mainframe
in Mass. doing flow rate calculations.

3. The internet's a mine field for infovores (but the mines are pinatas)

I made a living with electronic and optical engineering, and then computing.

This is the vision of paradise I had as a youngster.

I really try to streamline things. Hacker News is a real cornucopia of those things I like.

So, I skim for interesting items, quickly apply "reader" mode and save to PDF.

If it's *REALLY* interesting, I actually read the article, and forward to friends and/or post here.

But, like skimming DU instead of the hundred or so sites that are curated here, what I read is pre-moderated.

There was a post on Hacker News berating Apple's iPadOS software.
Before I could reply, it just vanished.

So, for me, I curate items already curated.
Sharing is my way to make this addiction of sorts beneficial, and I have gotten thanks for some gems that I've unearthed.

The pre-curation is pretty good, though I have a very long trash list for DU articles.
