Addiction & Recovery
Related: About this forumLast night I had a problem with an addition I did not realize:..."SALT"
....Five minutes I looked it up and found this answer to the question...Is salt addictive?
Salt is a highly addictive taste. Our brains and bodies are designed to enjoy salt because it's necessary to survival. Over the course of human history, finding salt was difficult, so craving salt was a survival mechanism...
Then I asked this question...Why is salt important? (I found this on the internet...)
Salt plays a crucial role in maintaining human health. It is the main source of sodium and chloride ions in the human diet. Sodium is essential for nerve and muscle function and is involved in the regulation of fluids in the body. Sodium also plays a role in the body's control of blood pressure and volume.
I got a bag of tortilla chips yesterday...and couldn't stop.....Yes, I have had "high blood pressure" and
other problems..far more serious.. I somehow thought I could control that bag of chips. I couldn't....
..........Does that sound familiar?.........No more chips....and I got some pretzels that I might
give away..fresh bags, not opened....And YES>>>>>>>>>
...........................................I LIKE SALT A WHOLE LOT.... YES...I DO...YOU BETCHA!!!...............

(38,726 posts)According to the expert, there is a direct correlation between salt and blood pressure: the consumption of salt raises blood pressure. This is because if you have more salt in your diet, you will naturally have more water in your circulatory system and increase your body's intravascular volume,

(45,693 posts)It wasn't so hard to reduce. But read every label, it's shocking how much salt is in stuff. Even a slice of bread. Especially anything takeout, prepared or at a restaurant. But in a week, you start to lose your taste for salt and you'll be amazed at how inedibly salty your old foods will seem.

But I take meds for blood pressure anyway.
When it gets low I feel like passing out and have passed out from it.
First thing I assume is my blood sugar levels are low. But if sugar is okay it's my blood pressure fucking me up,so I eat a little salt and after awhile I feel better.
