I had a "lot of feelings" about a lot of things today, that I would have drank over, before. I didn't drink today.
Also I'm grateful for AC & safe drinking water & flush toilets, and my cats & I got food.

(33,643 posts)Feelings ... man I hated those when I was sober.
I guess that's why I'm not anymore ... but I'll be back. Sometime. For Sure!
I'm still very proud of everyone who pulls it off, you have my utmost respect

(38,726 posts)I also have AC, a computer, a car with AC and enough to eat. My place has two flights of stairs, and I am grateful that I can get up the stairs. I had hip surgery and was disabled for a while, but now I can take long walks in the forest that is a short drive from where I live. I guess being grateful is the only way to go. What else is there to say? (I did forget something) I got to a meeting this morning, and the sharing was very special.
...And about safe drinking water..about 130 years ago in the Chicago area where I live, there was an awful epidemic that caused hundreds of deaths. Why? The drinking water from the lake was not purified. Sometime after that, they started purifying the water in a safe way. Safe, clean drinking water is one of life's necessities that most of us take totally for granted.

(38,726 posts)You plug the thing in, like the computer I am typing on right now, and the thing works..Lots of things operate this way. I recall our first TV..I was watching it one day, many years ago, and on came an advertisement for a movie, and the ad said it was a wonderful, happy movie now playing at theaters near you.............Guess what the movie was..........."Singing In The Rain".....1952...we had electricity then, as well as now.....Something to be grateful for.. It turns out that ..Singing in the Rain might just be the greatest musical movie ever made...
....One more thing about that movie "Singing in the Rain" It is probably available at your local library to be checked for free...(if you have library card) Get to keep the movie for a week or two, depending on what the local libraries rules are, and you can watch as many times as you wish..It is a wonderful movie that has a great and happy ending...(I love movies with happy endings)

(38,726 posts)In 1999 I saw it for the first time. At a friends house, he took out his computer and showed me the White House.gov link. It was hard to believe...and I thought that the internet was restricted to just a few sites.
..In 2000, the library where I live got it. 2 computers. I remember going and fooling around with it. Then in 2001, there were 4 or 5. I was on the internet when 9/11 hit. Instant news. Today the internet is where I get news most of the time. If I am driving, I listen to the radio.
...I think I saw my first hand held computer in 2006. Now they are everywhere. I guess they are also called, "cell phones"....????I am used to a large screen. Yes, I have a cell phone with internet, but I use it to phone people..
...I guess someone had a song about this, "The Times They are A Changing" (oh you can get music too)
