5. I watched it when it first came out, wasn't impressed

Appreciated it much more this time 'round.

Although both times I felt that the character of the wife was over the top. Possibly a combination of the writing and acting.

Back then the Irish were shite to the "true americans".. The great political statement in the movie was when Boss tweed said it's not about the votes.... it's about the vote counters!!! KEEP counting!! Just like our problems with vote counting today...
Seems we always need a ethnic group to dump on.. Then as now...
