"October Faction" on Netflix
This is season one of a series about a mom and dad, with teenage kids, fighting monsters for a super-secret, vastly resourced org called 'The Presidio". Even though the premise was intriguing, I was put off by the mostly charmless cast, unlikable characters and lame dialogue but I stuck through it past episode three because there were enough teasers, and great aerial shots, to make me want to see how things turn out. It was actually worth it. The story evolves into an interesting contemplation on identity and genocide, and your character allegiances will change many times but if you like monster stories and shoot 'em-ups (there's a startling high body count), this might be worth some patience.

(10,749 posts)I liked it well enough. Kind of like Grimm and maybe a bit of Lost Girl. Slow start in episode 1. The mean girls and boys are annoying, though I like the mom and dad. Their kids are a bit annoying as well but I think they might grow on me. Youre right about the aerial shots. Nice town, even if it really isnt north of Boston.

(28,290 posts)Taylor - so great in her Bond-like first iteration. What I love about this show (I am on the last episode) it's the constant switching of the premise - good guys/bad guys and the many levels of the conflict - school, local authorities, supernatural, Presidio. Fast moving - good characters - on the level of Ares - another favorite this season.
