I highly recommend "After Life."
It's a short Netflix show staring Ricky Gervais. I find him hot and cold. In this show, he plays a small town newspaper writer who recently lost his wife. He's bitter and suicidal and will say anything to anyone. He's so caustic, I almost quit watching after the first episode. But I'm glad I stuck with it. He slowly comes around and learns to start living again. Gervais wrote and directed the show, and I think it shows that he's matured quite a bit. There are some laugh-out-loud bits, especially when he's covering some truly inane stories. This was an unexpected treat. I don't watch many tv shows, but this was well worth it. And I especially like the fact that it's only one season. One and done!

(4,919 posts)With Gervais' co-star from Extras. If you liked After Life, you would love Extras (also on Netflix)... Extras is two seasons, but a fantastic series finale.

(1,288 posts)Wasn't expecting to, as I didn't care for the little bit of Ricky I'd seen on TV. But he was great. It was great.
Now I'll watch Extras!

The episode with the breast milk had us rolling on the floor! Ricky Gervais has a stand up special on Netflix right now. Damn funny on that as well.
