Fleabag - Amazon Prime - highly recommend

I just loved this series - 2 seasons that I binged in the last week or so.

I don't know how to describe it as I couldn't really relate to the main character - Fleabag - but it was funny and sad and thought provoking and I loved her. This woman who felt her only value was her body, had sex with multiple partners but didn't seem to enjoy it much, only emotionally open to her best friend. Dysfunctional relationships with her family.

3 days after the last episode, it's still on my mind.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the show creator and main character.

1. Is it funny? I tried to watch before, but just made it halfway through first episode...

Truth in the telling, I have a couple of long term friends that delight in discussing every detail of their sex life and body functions, body grooming and on and on and on-- and have for years. I'm no prude, but it has gotten really old. It goes well beyond TMI, but they have other good qualities so I put up with it. That said, I see what is going on around us and find it depressing that that is all some people talk and think about.

So, I'm guessing you can predict why the first 15 minutes of Fleabag turned me off. Should I stick with it? If so, can you tell me why?

2. I finished series 2 and absolutely was in stitches frequently. Brilliantly written/acted

And yes, there is some 'adult' talk but not as much as season 1.

If you struggled w/season 1, give season 2 a go. I think you'll be pleased.

4. After hearing her in a Terry Gross interview, we gave it another shot.

Can't say we are addicted or love it (we are now about to start episode 4, season 1) - it certainly describes a time far different from one I grew up and dated in (I am 63) - there are some drop dead funny moments, but also poignant moments of sadness.

I've heard season 2 is better than season 1 - we will I am sure get through all of it and decide what we thought about it when we finish...but...she is quite an actress - really talented, great timing with her delivery.

8. I wasn't insterested in this show at all

But a friend suggested that I would probably like it, so I gave it a try. Midway in the second episode I paused because I thought something really horrible was going to happen and I had surmised from the story so far that anything could happen on this show. I resumed watching the following evening and nothing horrible happened. The scene that followed was, instead, brilliantly hilarious. The whole series is full of highly original humor and thoughtful philosophizing. Great writing and very funny acting.

9. Quirky, but I enjoyed it. It did take at least an episode to get the hang of it.

All her little confessionals were a little confusing at first. Once you got used to them and Fleabag's sardonic wit, it all flowed rather well. Also enjoyed the interaction between her and her sister as well as with her soon to be M-I-L played by Olivia Colman. I've seen her (Olivia) in other series and she's quite good. Would rate it a 4.5 stars.

10. Laughed harder and harder the further we went.

Cried, too (although while there were moments of that in Season 2, the season 1 finale was truly heart-rending).

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is soooo talented. Not only did she create, write, and act in this, she also created and wrote "Killing Eve."

Who does that? Much less simultaneously?

She's said she wants a role for her written into Eve season 3 so Villanelle can kill her...
