The Guilty on Hulu
The only reason I watched this movie is because I like the Swedish/Danish actor Jakob Cedergren who stars in the Swedish crime drama The Sandhamm Murders.
The Sandhamm Murders is a kind of sleepy police drama that takes place on an island in the Stockholm archipelago where rich Swedes go on vacation in the summer and get themselves into all kinds of trouble, but I digress.
Anyway, Cedergren really demonstrates what a magnificent actor he is in The Guilty. Here is what it is about. He plays Asger, a cop who is on desk duty while he is being investigated for a police shooting. His wife left him. He is pissed about being demoted to taking calls at the the Danish version of 9-1-1.
Then a call comes in from a woman whom Asger determines has been abducted.
This movie takes place in two rooms and you never see the people he is on the phone with or their locations.
This movie is a masterpiece, seriously. It was Denmark's entry to The Academy Awards and if it had won it would have deserved it hands down.
What this movie is really about: The world is not as we think it is.
