An oldie that needs to be resurrected to rebel against the anti-gender benders.

It's a K-drama with English subtitles, but oh, so worth it. It's called the Coffee Prince and tells the story of a 24ish year old tomboyish girl who is often mistaken for a boy. And how she uses it to her advantage to make money to pay for her Taekwondo class and her family's needs. Great cast and hilarious situations. Actually aired in 2007.

Try to make it, at least through episode 2. I haven't stopped laughing.

It's on viki.com, which I think you can see a few movies free with ads.

I have been binge watching for several months. After watching them, I'm convinced I was malnourished from watching American movies all my life. Sure there are complications in those K-dramas, like some of those 16 episode telenovelas could be edited, but then you hit their masterpieces, wow.

My Mister -- If you like slow burn dramas, wow. This is it.

Oh My Ghostee -- Great character building, wonderful arc development, and finally, a Korean drama that gave an ending a full hour episode to wrap things up, instead of some of the almost greats that really ran through it, denying the show a special place in my heart. Like, That Winter the Wind blows. I had to read up other people's reviews and watch that ending three times before I could convince myself of how it really ended.

Hotel De Luna and My Mister turned me into an IU fan. And My Mister and Coffee Prince is turning me into a Lee Sun-Kyun fan. Coffee Prince also stars Gong Yoo, the actor in Guardian, the Lonely and Great God also known as Goblin.

I could keep on going.

He and Son Ye-Jin were perfect in CLOY. I hope their happily ever after which resulted in a real marriage lasts forever. Both with long movie and t.v. credits. It's going to take some fortitude to break the magic by watching them act in the Negotiation where they're on opposite sides of the conflict.

Son Ye-Jin is so good, that I still made it through Something in the Rain, despite its problems. Good lord, the director should be taken out and flogged. What the hell with using Stand by your Man as the theme song! I cringed every time I heard it. So inappropriately applied. First half was great. Second half it looked like a first year filmmaker slapped it together. I would say that was the worst K-drama, but truthfully, I skated through some of them, jumping straight to the ending if it was too bubble gum and/or rom-com formulaic.

Highly recommend Secret Garden. BTW, Ha Ji-Won (the female lead) has a long list of credits. I just saw Chocolate, which is another great K-drama that she was in. She plays a very passive character with deep scars, which I later discovered is a change from her usual roles. She played the main character in Empress Ki, which was a major drama with 51 episodes. I could not commit to it with that many episodes without peeking at the ending. All I can say is, that I decided not to watch it.
