Highly recommend The Makanai-Cooking for the Maiko House on Netflix

Experiencing a ton of stress from many directions right now and this show is so relaxing and sweet. No violence in any form. Beautiful scenery, a sweet story, yummy cooking, like Chicken Soup for the Soul, but Japanese style.

If it doesn’t float your boat, that’s okay.
My husband who is Japanese, and I, really enjoyed a calm sweet story to watch together. It’s full of culture and beautiful scenery.

and it looks good. I'll give it another try. I wish they had left the Japanese in and put subtitles. For me, the dubbed in English is annoying. Would much rather have the original voices as they sound more authentic to their actions on the screen. I'm watching My Brilliant Friend on HBO Max, you might enjoy that one. In Italian and Neapolitan dialect with subtitles.

Not sure what happened for you? You might want to recheck your language and cc settings. I agree, I really dislike dubbing. I love to hear the native language.
