Recommend The Wonder on Netflix
It is about a girl who supposedly stops eating, but somehow remains alive. A nurse travels from England to a remote Irish village to investigate the girl's fast.
As the story proceeds, the girl is observed to be getting weaker and weaker, and will apparently die unless some kind of intervention is done, which the nurse tries to unsuccessfully persuade the town and church elders to let her do something.
The ending of this tale is terrific

(24,013 posts)Really good so far. Slow paced and a little haunting. Very well done. I like the way it starts out on a modern set. Interesting.

(7,892 posts)I was amused to see Ciaran Hinds and Toby Jones in it, because I had just watched the first episode of "The English" (Prime) and when I saw those same two actors together I thought it was an odd pairing, only to see it again a few days later.

(12,883 posts)I didn't get why they blew away the fourth wall at the beginning and end unless it was some commentary on the illusion of storytelling, the toxic effect of which is a prominent theme in the story. I was happy to see Tom Burke in this. He was amazing as Orson Welles in Mank, and he's J.K. Rowling's detective character in the Strike series (on HBO Max).
