Season 5 of The Crown
Im on episode 7 and Im tired of the needy, immature, and whiny Diane. But Im more disturbed by Martin Bashirs despicable behavior toward her; lying and playing on her insecurities. He was pure evil.

I don't know why I have enjoyed this series so much,,,, never really been
a British Royal fan but they've always been there.
after watching an episode I spend time researching the storyline abit
to see what is true and what is fiction Kindof a history lesson.

(307 posts)I didnt think S5 was as interesting as the other seasons, but I was living in the UK during the Charles/Diana split and was bombarded with information all the time. So, this season didnt have as many reveals for me. It might be more interesting for those unaware of the drama of their split.

(17,833 posts)I have to say it wasn't that good. Seemed very scattered, and didn't really follow through on some of the story lines.
I watched the series "The Affair", in which Dominic West (who plays Charles) was an adulterer. I kept wondering if he specializes in adulterous roles.
Its hard to watch such a sad Diana, but I think its accurate. Royal marriages seem to carry the weight of high expectations- and like celebrity marriages- the public scrutiny doesn't help.
Things I learned: Diana and her brother were not really that close.. Her surgeon boyfriend was a really good man but couldn't deal with the publicity... Dodi was a cocaine user. Diana's life was more like a soap opera than a fairy tale.

(10,323 posts)One thing I learned, if its true, was how desperate Diana was for attention and how she complained about her treatment by the Royals to anyone who would listen.

(4,053 posts)Really liked most of the casting.
I liked that there was a lot of back story on the Fayeds.
Overall, an entertaining season and I can't wait for S6.
