Your take on two Netflix movies - POSSIBLE SPOILER

Edit: Tomorrow War is a Prime movie. Not Netflix.

Tomorrow War: I liked the premise, and I mostly liked the movie. The alien and its weapon were just far too creepy for me to look at, so I can't watch this one again. (That's about as Siskel and Ebert as I get.)

How It Ends: WTF? There's no crime in leaving a movie open-ended, and perhaps they intend to make a sequel. Still, I was miffed at the ending.

1. Thirteen Lives: about the rescue of Thai boys soccer team from a cave filling

with water. Ron Howard. Not filled with cliche. Just the facts. Everyone coming together and doing their part to save the boys. Some rescuers lost their lives. Based on actual events. Highly recommend. My favourite type of adventure movie: one where it ends well for the boys.

2. I got halfway through it and fell asleep - but not

because I was bored. Because I started watching it at about 12:30 am.

What I remember was good.

5. I'm watching it now

At 1 a.m. but I think I can stay awake.

I am at the part where they are preparing one of the boys to go out of the tunnel. They are showing tying the hands behind the back. I shuddered--even though you know they are doing it for their own safety it is still creepy to think about someone having to go through that.

Talk about having to trust.

It was interesting to see how they used "meditation" (I call it mind focusing) to get through their horrible experience.

It was also of note that the coach apologized for putting the boys in danger. Of course the boys immediately contradicted him and told how heroic he was. I thought "You would never hear that from an American coach!" Fear of a liabiity lawsuit.

I recall following this story as it developed. We had many threads on it here at DU, if I recall correctly. At that time I was teaching at a nearby university and I remember our entire English Department was wrapped up in this story. We were sharing news stories, talking about the latest updates, and on the edge of our seats as the boys got out.

6. Yes. It was a story that captured the world. The movie was perfect I thought.

I had heard that the local farmers agreed to have their fields flooded to save the boys but I did not know they were diverting water from on top of the mountain because that is how the water was getting in the cave. I was on DU at the time and suggesting anyi-anxiety medication be given to the boys if and when they were brought out and boy did I get slammed for that in what was typical for my life in the last 30+ years with a certain group of people. Did not know they were on the DU. Turned out the divers used ketamin to safe they boys. Lots of details I missed in the first viewing that I got a lot out of the second viewing of the movie.

7. The anesthesia idea was brilliant.

Without it none of the boys would have survived. The two Brits that invited the doctor had this in the back of their minds when they invited him, but did not tell him. And he resisted it. But it was the only way.

I can't imagine going caving at all. Especially being in the dark cramped spaces for hours and hours. I would absolutely have a panic attack.

8. I have dived before and loved it. Like I was finally in a 3D world I belonged in.

That zip tying of the hands and the feet made me feel better as if they woke up and panicked they would have been incapable of pulling off their own masks. It would give the rescue diver a chance to top em up with another Ketamin shot. It was all so well thought out that I felt more secure. Of course we knew the kids would be okay in the end.

3. I saw How It Ends a while back

And I gave it a thumbs down. And I quit ir about halfway through. I really can't remember much about it. I didn't see The Tomorrow War come up on Netflix. Maybe Amazon?
