"The Detectorists" on Acorn TV
I am LOVING this sweet, gentle series about a quirky club of metal detectorists, who scour the English countryside looking for ancient gold. The acting is fantastic (Diana Rigg is part of the cast) and the characters are so lovable.
If you like "Good Karma Hospital," you will probably love this one as well. It only ran for three seasons, and each episode is short, so you can savor them like little potato chips.

(121,317 posts)The characters are so goofy - and the series could only work in England, where once in awhile somebody really does find ancient Saxon or Viking treasures. There's a really good movie on Netflix, The Dig, about the discovery of a 7th-century ship. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3661210/

but it is funny - warm and charming --- ---
And I'm throwing out another recommendation ...
A bit more 'meaty' and serious than the above discussed, but also on Acorn, and with absolutely stunning actors, compelling character and content - I just don't think it's possible to be disappointed ...

Best sentimental theme song.
I wouldnt call it satire. Delicious quiet eccentrics and the people who love them.
Plus belly laughs. Unique indescribable I cant believe they did that.
