"The Detectorists" on Acorn TV

I am LOVING this sweet, gentle series about a quirky club of metal detectorists, who scour the English countryside looking for ancient gold. The acting is fantastic (Diana Rigg is part of the cast) and the characters are so lovable.

If you like "Good Karma Hospital," you will probably love this one as well. It only ran for three seasons, and each episode is short, so you can savor them like little potato chips.

The characters are so goofy - and the series could only work in England, where once in awhile somebody really does find ancient Saxon or Viking treasures. There's a really good movie on Netflix, The Dig, about the discovery of a 7th-century ship. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3661210/

(sorry for the, minor, spoiler - but, really - you didn't see it coming?)

but it is funny - warm and charming --- ---

And I'm throwing out another recommendation ...
A bit more 'meaty' and serious than the above discussed, but also on Acorn, and with absolutely stunning actors, compelling character and content - I just don't think it's possible to be disappointed ...

the hedgehog. Detectoring with baby in the backpack.

Best sentimental theme song.

I wouldn’t call it satire. Delicious quiet eccentrics and the people who love them.

Plus belly laughs. Unique indescribable ‘I can’t believe they did that.’

We watch it every spring, and I always see something I hadn't noticed before. Genius.
