I thought this movie was already done, if this is a new one then good. This all needs to be remembered and not ever forgotten. If it is the old one it is worth watching. I remember thinking it was done well.
EDIT, apparently there was not a previous movie. I still think I remember one but.....

I'm just in awe. The conclusion was great - how they tied up all the loose ends and fit everything so neatly and concisely in those last 35 mins was masterful. Apparently some critics didnt like how the historical parts dragged, and while they perhaps could have tightened some of that up, a certain amt was essential to understanding the characters and besides I think in these days of limited series we need to judge the series as a whole - did it tell a story, have good character development, and reach a satisfying conclusion. Based on those criteria I would call it a 4.9 - rounding up that would be 5 stars.
Interview with the writer was insightful https://www.tvinsider.com/1047000/under-the-banner-of-heaven-ending-explained-dustin-lance-black/
