It's not so much what you eat, and the fact that you are forced to think about and evaluate each bite before you eat.

Of course, I've never heard of a credible diet that allows donuts or french fries either.

that deliberately thinking about a disgusting item (vomit or blood was suggested) which would turn one away from eating. It was too much for me. Couldn’t do it more than once.

That includes ice cream, cookies, and most donuts.

Poof! Hunger is gone. Cravings are brown rice and vegetables. After awhile even apples and bananas are too sweet.

Between 60 and 80 oz of water. Had to cut out caffeine. Never realized how much caffeine in chocolate.
Lucky I have great well water that’s free.

so hungry that I would have a big dinner.

I quit that and added a small breakfast. (250ish calories) I find that I still need the big lunch, but now I'm still stuffed at dinner and am consuming much fewer calories without any difficulty.

I also write down everything I am eating.

after the second diet in a row made me fatter. I stopped dieting and changed my diet to whole foods, followed Michael Pollan's prescription 35 years before he said it. I did go vegan for 10 years in the 70s because hello double digit inflation and I couldn't afford meat any more.

The only thing calorie counts are any good for is when you're trying to sort out a lousy diet and need to know why some foods make you fatter while leaving you hungry for more of the same.

It really does work. It makes you think about your food choices.

A financial diary listing your income and spending is also helpful. Again, it puts things in black and white in front of you and makes you think about your choices.

You count points which is much easier because WW has already prefigured the points. Plus there is a phone app which will instantly tell you the points value, and you can scan barcodes on canned items.

So many foods are zero point value foods it is quite easy to eat a very healthy and satisfying variety of foods.

All veg except potatoes and sweet potatoes: zero points
Beans and legumes: zero points
All fruit: zero points
Fat free cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt zero points
Eggs zero points
Chicken breast and turkey breast: zero points
other meats estimate 1 point per ounce.

Pinterest has tons of WW recipes with points already figured.

quite well using the point system. The current point system is wonderful because it is so easy. These days I only worry about the foods with points because there are so many great options with no points.

WW does have a monthly charge, which you can have billed to a card, but it isn't that high and when you make lifetime you don't have fees. You can do it online and there are tons of online meetings you can visit.

That last 15 pounds are the worst, everyone agrees on that. Good luck with getting them off. I thought I would never get rid of that last 10 pounds.
