Anyone have bouts of vertigo during and after Covid? I'm fully vaxxed, but got sick 3

weeks ago and tested positive. Had fever, mild cough, nasty nausea & vomiting and fatigue. Recently I had a couple bouts of severe vertigo that scare the hell out of me. Have tried variations of the Epley Maneuver and taken meclizine. I'm the caretaker for my disabled husband and can't afford to be out of commission. Anyone on DU gotten vertigo after Covid or a flu? Any suggestions? I have an appointment with my primary in 10 days.

Also multi backed to the max and has COVID before it was named, in December 2019. Very bad case with long COVID including , vertigo, fainting, and skin itching so bad I thought I would rip my hide off. Luckily all have passed and have not been reinfected.

The vertigo came and went for several months.
I hope it passes quickly for you.

Google PPV. Dr. Told me that coughing can cause the “rocks” in your ear canal that regulate balance to shift.
There are a couple of easy exercises (head rolls) that can help.

Get better soon.

to move the crystals in the inner ear, it helps but the vertigo attacks return. Damn virus!

Take care!

There are a few things s/he can try in the office, maneuvers of the head and neck that need to be done under close observation the first time since a lot of people pass out (and worse) from them, but which can be done at home if they're well tolerated. Chiropractors do them but I'd avoid them, they're not prepared to deal with that one person in a thousand who runs into real trouble.

Whether Covid caused it or it's just a coincidence is moot, You want to get rid of it.

If the maneuvers don't work, a drug called meclizine can help a lot, especially if you've got bouts of nausea with the dizziness and you're having trouble remaining uprright.

There is help out there, you just have to make the phone call and get an appointment.

Epley and Foster maneuvers. They help for a while, but it returns. I've been taking Meclizine with pretty good results, though do not want to use it longer than absolutely necessary. It's amazing all the goings on that occur within our inner ear, hey??

Take Care!

7. That's why I mentioned doing the maeuvers at home if they're well tolerated

It's not rocket science, it just shakes the detritus in the inner ear loose and puts it somewhere less harmful. People who tolerate the maneuvers well can do them at home when vertigo gets bad.

I'm an old retired nurse. Kinda shows in all of us.

Thanks for posting, I experienced vertigo once and it scared the hell out of me although it lasted only seconds. Whoa.

After reading some about it - crystals in the ear and the vestibular system, I felt a little better. But I hope I never experience it again. A root canal, no problem, get right to the endodontist and then you're good to go.

Take care!

it will happen. I'd been lucky to be at home when it hit. You're right, I'd rather have a root canal or tooth pulled, at least you know it will be over with.

Be well!
