No COLA for 2016!

While my rent went up $100 a month, my disability will not move. This is so depressing and upsetting!
Socialsecurityworks has a petition.
I've been disabled since a child and my benefits have barely moved in all those years.
Please join me in trying to fight this! Write your senators, congressmen, etc. and most of all VOTE! The disabled are not a large group in numbers, so we all have to look out for each other.
Just because we are disabled does not mean we should live in poverty!

I don't think social security is going up for elderly either. Federal workers getting 1 percent. It's all bad. However the president hasn't signed the budget yet so don't give up hope.

I have to pay all my rent myself, no help. it's a lot!
From what I've seen military will also not be getting a COLA. It's disgraceful!
I'm hoping if enough people write/call, people in charge will pay attention.

Sorry you are disabled. Must be difficult. Most people worked and paid into SSA and yet, people who never worked receive food stamps, $750/mo for a child if you can get Doc to say the kid has ADHD, section 8 housing, Medicaid, etc . But disabled people, vets and the elderly are told their fund is running out of money. Rent, property taxes, food, clothing, water, electricity have all gone up but screw us. Our government has turned its back on us. Disabled15, hope you can find some assistance for 2016.

I don't see how they can possible figure that the cost of living hasn't gone up. If you rent, your rent goes up. If you own a home, your property taxes go up.
