The ad for North Faces Summer of Pride campaign features Pattie Gonia and debuted on Instagram Wednesday. Im a real-life homosexual, the queen says in a video. Im here with the North Face to help you come out ... in nature with us. They go on to show some of the companys Pride Collection merchandise and note that North Face will host outdoorsy Pride events in Atlanta and Salt Lake City.
Congresswomen and far-right firebrands Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are among those calling for a boycott of North Face.
Big name brands sexually targeting children makes me want to buy all generic brand clothing now, Greene tweeted. Besides.. we can save a fortune NOT wasting money on labels that are grooming our children. In reality, theres nothing sexual about the North Face campaign.

Boebert goes on in the article saying that North Face will get the Bud Lite and Target 'treatment'. This should be considered terrorism, not support of business and corporations.

(2,015 posts)I can imagine a time in the future when their names will be synonymous with being filthy, and parents may admonish their children: "Don't be a Boebert", "don't go Greene", "Don't be a Gaetz" ... etc.

(8,492 posts)But I don't think boycotting a company is terrorism. Anything past that like going into the stores to damage displays and create a scene over what you don't like is wrong though and can be illegal. Doing that could be considered a form of terrorism but not just boycotting a store.

Jackson Township police: Target reopens after evacuation due to bomb threat
The department said just after 3:15 p.m. that the township store had resumed operations after police officers, with the help of a bomb-sniffing dog from the Stark County Sheriff's office, searched the location and found no bombs.
In a statement, police said its dispatch center around 12:40 p.m. received calls from Channel 19 and Channel 5 news saying they had received bomb threats against four Target stores, including the one in Jackson Township. The message said that Target had turned its back on the LGBTQ community and that bombs had been planted in the stores.
The police did not identify the three other Ohio Target stores.
Channel 19 (WOIO) news reported the other locations as Stow, Boardman, Niles and Monaca, Pennsylvania.

(19,187 posts)pissing off the yokels isn't going to impact North Face's bottom line. Most yokels wouldn't know North Face from East / West. They just don't participate in the market. Carhart? Now that's a different story entirely.

But good for them in standing strong although it is easier than Target since NF is not actually a place but a brand.

(14,090 posts)There was nothing about that ad that "targets children"
I have many friends from all aspects of the LGBTQ community, and my child is trans male. I worry for all of them. Especially since my kid just moved to NC of all places. My son went back to join them and said he go pulled over and harassed the other day, even being a white boy in the south - I bet the kids have GAY stickers on their car so they are targets for this harassment now...
There's no way to take their hate away, but we can take away their power to harm, hopefully before it's too late...
