Uganda increases prison sentences for homosexual acts and criminalizes LGBTQ+ - DW News

Uganda's parliament has voted to increase prison sentences for homosexual acts to a maximum of ten years. Gay sex was already banned under laws from the colonial era. But the latest changes go much further - criminalizing anyone who claims a gender identity "other than male and female". Public support for the new laws in the conservative nation appears to be high.

We speak with Richard Lusimbo, LGBT rights activist from Uganda's capital Kampala.
