Armed Drag Brunch Defenders Shield Against Far Right in Texas

A group of people armed with AR-15 style assault rifles stood guard outside a Texas drag queen brunch location Sunday to defend people enjoying the show from armed right-wing extremists bent on disrupting it. Eventually, the two sides clashed, and a local journalist caught it on video.

A video showing some of the heated exchanges that ensued went viral on Twitter.

Dallas-area freelance investigative journalist Steven Monacelli posted a thread to his Twitter timeline, where he documented the day’s events.

Monacelli also captured this terrifying image of a right-wing extremist menacing the assembled crowd by intimidating them with a baseball bat wrapped in razor wire.

Self-entitled little Nazi snowflakes think they're the only ones allowed to have guns, of course... Along with thinking they have the god-given right to terrorize, threaten, attack and kill anyone they don't like. Because of these "not afraid anymore!" thugs, the rest of us have to live with daily terror. The constant threats aimed at drag events... The fear we have for the "crime" of "walking while trans"... Doxxing... Stalking... Swatting... It all goes on and on and on.

They have done nothing but promote violence and threaten us. Well, it's about time they get a dose of their own medicine. It's about fucking time people stand up and protect vulnerable people who are being targeted solely for "you're not like us! waaaahhhhhhh!!!" They've been openly threatening innocent people since Charlottesville. The goddamned pigs do nothing to protect us. The QOP encourages and fuels this shit. So, it's about time people fight back.

After all, being nice has sure done so much to "not make the Republicans angry" and put a stop to this terrorism.
