Oklahoma Senate candidate Jarrin Jackson posts homophobic, antisemitic remarks on social media
A Republican state Senate candidate said being gay is "disgusting," called the LGBTQ lifestyle the "gateway to pedophilia" and said he is not "beholden to Jews" in posts and videos on right-wing social media platforms.
Jarrin Jackson, 36, has a history of making homophobic and antisemitic remarks on his social media pages.
A retired combat veteran, self-published author and the owner of an ammunition business, Jackson advanced to the Aug. 23 GOP runoff primary in Senate District 2 just northeast of Tulsa. He faces Claremore resident Ally Seifried, 29, who previously worked as an executive assistant for a state senator and is now an account manager at a Tulsa company that creates custom history books.
Jackson led in the June primary, clinching support from 34% of Republican voters. Seifried came in second with 32% of the vote.
Jackson, who says he's running for the open Senate seat "to defend Oklahomans against further communist infiltration," posts near-daily livestreams in which he delves into conspiracy theories and talks about Christianity and current events. He also is a frequent poster on the social media app Telegram, where he describes himself as a "Bible-believing Christian, Constitution-defending, patriotic Trump supporter."
