LGBTQ+ dating apps used by police in dozens of drug arrests

Florida authorities this week said LGBTQ+ dating apps have helped them make upwards of 60 drug-related arrests.

In a six-month sting operation which officers called “Swipe Left for Meth,” undercover detectives used dating apps like Grindr and Scruff – targeted toward men who have sex with men – to locate a number of people suspected of buying and selling drugs online.

The operation produced more than 60 arrests, according to a news release, and detectives have obtained warrants for at least eight other suspects.

Detectives during the investigation filed 159 total felony charges and 72 misdemeanor charges against the suspects, who, altogether, have 908 previous charges, including 453 prior felonies and 455 prior misdemeanors.

This is news because it's the cops doing it, but "dating" apps are hunting grounds for predators in general.

I live in a podunk place and the only available lesbian I know in the surrounding three counties works for the same place, so obviously a bad idea. I just decided, hell maybe I'll ask the DU group for ideas because lately....it's been a bit... yeah

Then, I hear about covid, cops, and dating sites... I swear it's going to be a cold winter.

Well over a decade ago I worked extended gig in a medical manpower shortage area, also a meth-addicted mess of a community. The percentage of patients who were positive for meth, and quite often a master mix of substances was truly astonishing. Once my gig was up, I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
There's no "deader" soul than a tweaker. They can pretend to be an empathetic human only so long, one look into their eyes bares their whole game. I got to 100 percent predictability which were positive for meth, even relatively new users who are still "holding it together".
It's the same old shit under new jargon I'm likely unfamiliar with now: "speed kills, man, let that fucker sleep in the alley somewhere."
Is it any coincidence 2 different communities, one worse with a meth problem than another but still creepy-creepy crypts, also happen to be the "reddest" districts in the entire southwest in the disastrous 2016 election?
When I see any long term tweaker extrapyramidally attempting to walk down the sidewalk anywhere and think about how they still think they're fooling anyone when still trying to play their drug seeker game... weeping sores all over them... 🤮
At one time there was probably a salvageable human being there.
