Donald Trump Expected at Log Cabin Republicans Gala

Donald Trump is expected to attend the Log Cabin Republicans’ annual Spirit of Lincoln dinner, to be held Saturday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, sources tell the Washington Blade, marking the first time a former president appears at one of the group’s events.

Log Cabin, a right-wing organization made up of LGBTQ+ conservatives, wouldn’t confirm the report, for which the Blade cited “two insiders familiar with his plans.” His wife,
Melania Trump, is set to receive the Spirit of Lincoln Award and speak at the event, where she will be the guest of honor.

“Mrs. Trump will be the only member of the family speaking and scheduled to attend the Spirit of Lincoln Gala,” Log Cabin Managing Director Charles Moran told the Blade. In announcing the award to Melania Trump in a September press release, Moran said,
Melania Trump’s work as First Lady, from helping children reach their full potential to championing a more inclusive Republican Party, has been historic. Her vocal support of Log Cabin Republicans has been a signal to Republicans everywhere that it is possible to simultaneously be conservative and support equality under the law for all Americans.”

Log Cabin has often tried to paint Donald Trump as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, but he and his administration took numerous actions against LGBTQ+ people: the transgender military ban, revoking guidelines on proper treatment of transgender youth in schools, opposition to antidiscrimination protections, promotion of the freedom to discriminate under the guise of religious liberty, the appointment of anti-LGBTQ+ judges and cabinet members, and more.

I'd have to say if she worked to make the Republican Party more inclusive then she failed miserably.
Also, I'd like to hear how she helped kids reach their full potential because I never heard a word about that.
And the only thing they include now are far right wing fake Christians and terrorist militias.

I wonder what Lincoln's Spirit would say if we could hear his take on Melania getting that award.

“Mrs. Trump will be the only member of the family speaking…”

If Trump shows up, you know he’ll want to address the crowd. His ego, his house.

Should be fun!

How the ever loving F** can any self respecting person on in the LGBTQA+ community be a member of a party that thinks that they are an abomination and should be sent to a concentration camp for either re-education or a "shower??????"

Said to me, in so many words, by a card-carrying member of the Logheads. Then when I said "That's great. Is your money more important than other people's rights too? Sell your own ass for 30 pieces of silver. Who do you think you are to sell the rest of us out?", silence.

Then again, I'm not sure he's the sharpest knife in the drawer. He runs for local office every few years as an R. Should he ever win, he intends to "come out" and "force the party to adapt" (Right. And I'm posting this from my Commodore 64000.) And said money? He was born on third base and think he hit a triple, thanks to his parents being loaded.

Sorry, people. But over the years, I've gone from respecting (but strongly disagreeing) with Logheads, to hating them more than I hate mainstream Republicans. Republicans are assholes and fascists. Logheads are hypocrites and sellouts.
