I'm an instructor at a former Community College (a Florida State College now because we offer a few BAs) that wants to institute a moral turpitude clause. I'm not sure what that means, but I sort of think that's the point.
I'm now to be videoed by students to make sure I don't harm conservative thought, and I have to fill out a questionnaire this September to assess my political views. I am the frigging advisor to the LGBTQ+ rights group (what do they think my political views are???). The president of the college already doesn't acknowledge my work. He never takes a picture with our group at the end-of-the year celebrations.
Even at DU, where I am supposed to feel safe, I saw a cartoon which clearly was making fun of trans athletes, and yet it still stands.
Pisses me off.

(54,857 posts)I am sorry you are facing this bullshit. Frankly, I am glad I left higher education because from what I have heard from many of my former colleagues, it isn't good. Eggshells abound.
As a gay DU'er, I haven't felt "safe" or even valued here for years. While things have improved, greatly in some areas, there is is so much to be done and I (and I know others) are fucking exhausted from having the same fucking discussions time and time again.
Hang in there!

(12,934 posts)I am trans and people always are obsessed about what my genetalia is. It's rude, degrading disgusting and obnoxious and threatening.
It's like they ignore you are a person because you are trans.

(10,403 posts)I guess DU still has a prejudice side when it comes to transgender people. As someone who is transitioning from male to female. I don't expect it to be any better. Mean its bullshit that you gotta deal with that crap. Literally fascism in the blind eye wanting to know peoples political views. Like mind your own fucking business

I hear you and I support you. I pray things will get better. I do realize most people are more accepting than they were of my lgbqt friends in college long ago but there is still a long way to go to equality.
Don't give up and feel free to vent, always.
