Classical K-12 Christian school Whitefield Academy is asking its faculty to agree to expel any students who are out as gay.
The schools administration introduced a letter for all faculty to sign, supporting the administrations decision. The letter was introduced a week ago and any teachers or staff members who dont sign it are expected not to return to Whitefield.
At least three teachers wont be returning to Whitefield in the fall and have declined to sign the document. Requests for comment from two of these identified teachers have not been returned. This piece will be updated with comments if they come in. Dr. Quentin Johnston, the schools headmaster, responded to a request for comment with the following statement:
We have not asked our teachers to sign a statement or letter such as you describe. As in past years, we ask teachers and parents to understand and consent to the standards outlined in our Statement of Faith and core documents, which have not been altered in several years.

(2,809 posts)I'm so sick of the Christo-fascists Trumpism related empowerment syndrome.
It's apparent even in the way they drive their oversized pick'em'up twucks here... always with the obligatory "Trump Train" sticker emblazoned somewhere when they tailgate, then wildly carreen around anyone driving moderately.
I've two weeks left of my work assignment in heavily-Trumpist Calaveras county. Otherwise it's beautiful country but I'll be glad to leave this vast idiotic majority in my rear view mirror.
I can't detail out the run-ins I've had with the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers at work, suffice to say it's been more of them than anywhere else. But I'll give this much of a clue. One of the same ones who previously gave me a hard time about wearing a mask in a healthcare facility is now... ahem.... very, very, very ill. Gee... go figure.
What I also observed of childish obstinance here was a church that was dispersing it's audience one Sunday after the show. I was next door enjoying my brunch on their patio, that is until I saw how idiotically the approaching after-church crowd was purposefully flaunting social-distancing, masking mandates, in defiance of the door sign clearly stating 'masks required" for the indoor ordering area.
Beautiful country marred by Christo-fascist "trump" displays everywhere now updated with "trump 2024" flags. I'll be glad in 2 weeks to leave it in my rear view mirror.
I can't help these tangents. It's all so upsetting, but I try to just smell the flowers walking the dog and keep on keepin' on.
