Two bodies found inside car of North Carolina lesbian couple who vanished in mid-April

This is the sad follow-up to a story that was posted in this group here last week.

The car was discovered “deep in the woods and covered in vegetation," police in Wilmington, North Carolina, said.

A car belonging to one of two North Carolina women who have been missing since mid-April was found with two bodies inside in a heavily wooded area.

Police in Wilmington, North Carolina, announced Tuesday that on Monday they discovered a gray Dodge Dart belonging to Paige Escalera. Escalera, 25, was last seen with her fiancée, Stephanie Mayorga, 27, on April 15, and authorities said at the time that the two disappeared under “suspicious” circumstances.

“The car was found just after 3 p.m. outside the Watermark Marina with two unidentified bodies inside,” Wilmington police said in the statement Tuesday. The vehicle was “deep in the woods and covered in vegetation,” and authorities believe the car “may have been involved in an extremely high velocity crash.”

"Due to the effects of decomposition, police cannot positively identify the two bodies at this time," police said, but autopsies are scheduled.

Maybe with this being near Wilmington, they will actually do an investigation and if it was a hate crime (looks like it might have been with the car so obviously hidden using vegetation like that) actually charge someone with a hate crime.

Too many hate crimes happen in my area that never get charged as a hate crime or even called one, including the death of a transgender woman a couple years ago. This was a bit further inland, closer to where I live in NC. The whole thing was swept under the rug.

It is dangerous to be gay in certain areas of NC. Way too dangerous.

is notorious for fatal car crashes. I hope they crossed gently and not in misery.
