(11,031 posts)That's about how long ago that I read (sorry I don't remember who) someone who noted that all of the evidence JFK conspiracists presented that seemed to be true wasn't conclusive of a conspiracy, and all the evidence they presented that would be conclusive of a conspiracy didn't seem to be true. That observation has held up rather well.

(11,031 posts)What I'm talking about is the faulty epistemology preferred by conspiracists in deciding the most plausible explanation of what happened. The "official story" is simply the one best supported by the actual evidence, and it will remain so until conspiracists do considerably better in that department than they have for the last 50 years. Instead, JFK conspiracists seem to be content with taking polls of how many people have been suckered into believing bullshit like Lane's books and Stone's JFK movie.

(1,464 posts)And you use their flaws as a blunt instrument to batter the heads of those who want complete and honest investigations, while framing the issue with a false symmetry as "exoneration" v. "conviction" instead of as getting investigations worthy of a liberal democracy.
