(1,940 posts)There's people in wheelchairs. No IDF in sight (could be in the tanks I suppose). No one's stripped to their underwear, sitting cross-legged with heads bowed. These look like civilians. Perhaps they are gathering for evacuation/transfer.
They would be the lucky ones. People were trapped in Jabalia camp, under heavy bombardment and shelling for days. Hospitals in the North are attacked one after another, all but one shut down now. No supplies let in either. I hope all of that has now ended and civilians and their hospitals will be spared or reopened and the wounded will be allowed to have care. I'm sure everyone here would agree.

(11,135 posts)There is only one man who may be sitting in a wheelchair. Do wheelchairs prevent terrorists from surrendering? Do they usually strip to their underwear before surrendering? And surely you can see people waling with their hands up, a universal gesture of surrender, no? I guess, since there are no IDF in sight from this particular camera angle, they are just practicing their surrender, right?
And when was the last time you heard of a terrorist in Gaza wearing a uniform or any other insignia identifying them as not civilians, as mandated by the Geneva Conventions? The last time I saw this happen was when Yassir Arafat addressed the UN wearing some semblance of a military uniform.
They would be the smart ones. The lucky ones would be the civilians in Jabalia who just saw them depart from the camp and surrender. Things are looking up for the civilians being freed of the presence of the terrorists in their midst.

Have the last word too, if you wish.

(11,135 posts)I have many more LEGITIMATE reasons to believe they are Hamas than you do to believe they are not. This is not a "both sides" or an equivalence issue.

(1,940 posts)Bolding mine.
Troops rounded up men and ordered women to leave the Jabalia historic refugee camp, they said. An Israeli airstrike on a house in Jabalia killed five people and wounded several others, medics said.
...
Medics at the Indonesian Hospital told Reuters that Israeli troops stormed a school and detained the men before setting it ablaze. The fire reached hospital generators and caused a power outage, they added.
So the IDF are rounding up all men inside shelters and hospitals they've attacked. For questioning and detaining.
Then some clown pro-Israel propaganda account on X claims it's HAMAS surrendering.
So much disinformation floating around. I wouldn't recommend posts linking to Eyal's account especially.
I thought you might find this related video educational:

(11,135 posts)I don't know what makes you think that what you see in the OP is less likely to be what is described in it than the photos you see in a story describing a completely unrelated event.

(1,940 posts)Same scene. Same guy in wheelchair sitting apart from the others and halfway between them and the tank.
You know it.
I'm glad we agree that the video in the o/p is NOT Hamas surrendering as claimed.

(11,135 posts)There are four photos in the Reuters article you posted. None resemble any terrain shown in the Twitter video. The pictures show both men and women. There is not a single woman in the Twitter video. The "guy in the wheelchair" in the picture appears to be a woman, or at least a man dressed as a woman, surrounded by a bunch of bags. The "guy in the wheelchair" in the video appears to be a man, or at least a woman dressed as a man, with no extra baggage in a ten foot radius. There is one tank by the fence shown in the Reuter's article. It has no wireframe top that is visible on the tank in the video. What is not visible in the video is the fence that the tank is parked by in the picture. Do you think the fence was cut into pieces and rigged as a wireframe on the tank before sundown?
If anything in the pictures resemble anything in the video to you, I can say with utmost confidence that you will find my latest portrait to be a nearly perfect copy of the twenty year old Queen Elizabeth's portrait taken just as she was about to be married to Prince Philip.
Trust me, if you look at it from a distance at a certain angle and squint hard, the resemblance is uncanny!
