UN food agency suspends staff movement in Gaza after vehicle fired on

This is the headline from a Reuters article from 8/28. The vehicle took about 10 shots and it was fortunate nobody was killed. The vehicle was clearly marked "UN" and had authorization from the IDF to move in the area escorting aid trucks and returning. Since the vehicle was only a few yards away from the checkpoint it will not be believable if someone tries to claim they "didn't see" it was the UN. Especially since the picture shows some of the bullets coming straight to the side of the vehicle where the big UN letters are.

Israel now says it was a "communication error". It seems that the statement is not directly from Israel to the UN but rather Israel told the US diplomats to tell the UN. We may see a later official statement released by the IDF or Netanyahu.
