An Israeli air strike on a school building sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City has killed more than 70 people, the director of a hospital has told the BBC.

Fadl Naeem, head of al-Ahli Hospital where many of the casualties were taken, said those were the victims who had been identified so far, with the remains of many others so badly disfigured that identification was difficult.

He said the situation was "catastrophic", and doctors were unable to treat those seriously wounded.

A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said al-Taba’een school "served as an active Hamas and Islamic Jihad military facility" with approximately 20 "militants" operating there. Hamas denies this.

Its entire battle plan is to assemble its gunmen and establish its faciities where attacking them is sure to harm non-combatants, so they can posture about 'war crimes' and 'genocide'.

It's amazing this still imposes on anyone capable of crossing a busy street on the green rather than the red.

You want an end to the bombing? Hamas can end it in an hour by freeing its captives and coming out hands up to surrender themselves as prisoners of war.

Israel also needs to stop with the mass bombing of civilian areas. Israel proved by taking out the leader of Hamas in Iran that is quite capable of taking out terrorists in precise attacks, that do not harm civilians. They need to do better.

Suspect - without evidence, or showing such evidence - a Hamas presence exists in a school, hospital, camp.

Bomb the hell out of it.

Claim victory. Killed a Hamas fighter or two (possibly), other dead were probably co-conspirators or supporters, anyway.

So all good. Israel is fighting the Good Fight.

Far too glib for my liking.

Israeli logic as you described it is pure projection without a single factual statement in it. A useless rhetorical exercise.

boasts of hiding in schools, hospitals, etc. They want Israel to maximize civilian casualties. They do not care for any human life, whether it is Palestinian, or Israeli.

Did anyone ever deny the presence of terrorists in that school, or any other schools previously reported on?

Why not, and what were they doing in these schools to begin with?

Perfidy is specifically prohibited under the 1977 Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, which states:

Article 37. – Prohibition of perfidy

1. It is prohibited to kill, injure or capture an adversary by resort to perfidy. Acts inviting the confidence of an adversary to lead him to believe that he is entitled to, or is obliged to accord, protection under the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, with intent to betray that confidence, shall constitute perfidy. The following acts are examples of perfidy:

(a) The feigning of an intent to negotiate under a flag of truce or of a surrender;
(b) The feigning of an incapacitation by wounds or sickness;
(c) The feigning of civilian, non-combatant status; and
(d) The feigning of protected status by the use of signs, emblems or uniforms of the United Nations or of neutral or other States not Parties to the conflict.

It's a war crime.

For it to be factual, it is customary to include facts, which are conspicuously missing from your post.

As for opinions, you know... everybody has one.
