MSN is carrying a story that appears to come from The Times Of Israel that a group of IDF soldiers in Rafah took video of themselves blowing up the water supply tank and well in Rafah. The soldiers apparently posted two videos on X. One showed rigging the equipment with explosives and the other the actual explosion. Apparently one of the videos had the caption Demolishing the water reservoir of Tel Sultan in honor of the Sabbath. The article goes on to say that the local brigade commander gave approval but the senior commanders were unaware.
The article mentions that Haaretz is reporting that the Military Police are investigating the incident as a suspected violation of international law.

(57,471 posts)My God.

(57,471 posts)Blowing up a water tank and destroying a water well for a population all ready suffering water and food scarcity is inhumane. Especially since the food and water scarcity is because the IDF restricts the flow of water and food into Gaza.
Suspected? Really?
Beastly Boy
(11,136 posts)that would damage Israel's reputation further. A whole lot further. As far as the reputations of Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Not to mention the various "freedom fighters", who actually get rewarded for shit like that and much worse.
But since IDF is the only army in the region that investigates their own, their reputation is stellar by comparison.
brush
(57,471 posts)but considering the situation, whoelse could do it?
Beastly Boy
(11,136 posts)And IDF is not investigatig IDF. They are investigating several individuals in their ranks for breach of international law. Something that only IDF is known to have ever conducted in the region.
Isn't an investigation of wrongdoing a positive?
Then why be so overly dramatic over a positive?
