on a UN request from 2022 to examine the legal matters regarding Israeli occupation of the lands outside the 1967 borders more commonly referred to as the Occupied Territories. The decision is advisory and it is expected that Israel will not comply with any decisions. It is expected that the US will continue to provide it's veto to protect Israel from being required to change in any way. This case is separate from the genocide case brought by South Africa.
Here is a link to the BBC report on the pending decision.

(26,452 posts)Normally, I would not allow a press release from this organization, but I will if you use the title of the press release.

(5,711 posts)I am at somewhat of a loss as to why we would not allow a press release from official organizations of the UN. Please explain for my future reference.

(26,452 posts)I/P used to be more contentious and required specific moderation. This is where source expectations and standards came into play.
And just like LBN, we asked for the Title to match the article. The intent is to create as neutral (fact) basis for the thread to begin.

(5,711 posts)I took it to mean the ICJ. The reason I'm asking for clarification on that is because I do use the UN archives for reference from time to time and if for some reason using that organization or their institutions like the ICJ is not in keeping with guidelines I don't want to use them in a post and just cause a problem.
