Israel/Palestine
Related: About this forumFor second time this week: Local residents of Kalkilya murder Israeli citizen upon entry into city
An Israeli citizen in his 60s who entered Kalkilya on Saturday morning with his car was shot dead by local residents, according to Palestinian reports cited by Israeli media.
IDF closed the entrances to Kalkilya following the murder and have begun vehicle checks and arrests.
According to a security source, the shooting was a terrorist attack, Kan News later reported Saturday evening.
A large number of IDF troops entered the city after an Israeli citizen who had entered the city center with his vehicle was shot at around seven on Saturday morning.

He was an elderly man who made a wrong turn and was murdered and his car set on fire.
Do people here know that Jewish Israelis cannot step foot in the "West Bank" without being murdered? I'm not aware of that happening anywhere else in the world.

(57,340 posts)Civilians are killed in war zones.
Do people understand it is dangerous to be in a place which is
an active military operation?
I hate that non combatants are killed or injured.
Especially those who cannot escape and are trapped.
If you are in a war zone, you have a good chance of being killed.
The whole point of a war is to kill as many of your enemy as possible.
That is why war is bad and should be last resort option.

(57,340 posts)I am most certainly not confused about people dying during war time.
1. The West Bank is inhabited by 3 million Palestinians and is a Palestine territory.
2. HAMAS is a Palestinian militant group.
3. HAMAS attacked Israel.
4. Israel is at war against HAMAS and by extension, Palestinians.
Whether we like it not, the safety of civilians in the entire area is not guaranteed.
And especially when Israelis wander into Palestinian territory.
People who enter the area and think they are safe are very foolish.
To further prove my point:
WWII:
75 million people died.
25 million military deaths.
50 million civilian deaths.
Viet Nam:
Military deaths were under a million.
2 million civilian deaths, including Cambodia and Laos, even the
war was supposed to just be in Viet Nam.
Do you see the trend? Civilian casualties are always double the military casualties.
And geographical lines are meaningless.

Prior to that a German tourist drove into the WB sightseeing, but he drove a car with Israeli license plates. His car was attacked:
I didnt understand what they wanted. We tried to tell them in English that we are tourists, and we are not Jewish Israelis, that we are there to visit and see the town, but they seemed to not understand it, Hetzel said.
He said he hadnt understood the scale of the security sensitivities: I thought they were only targeting religious-looking Jews, not international tourists.
PA security forces were powerless to stop the crowd and instructed the tourists to drive away as fast as possible, Hetzel said.
An Arab Israeli man then signaled the pair to follow him and led the way out of the city through smaller streets. After they escaped the city, the Arab Israeli gave the pair a ride, because their rental car was so damaged.

Your assertions are without merit.

It better to stick to facts and the actual argument.

Sometimes I despair and think that we are a very, very small minority in private, even if a large majority when compelled to speak in public.

(36,142 posts)Would you prefer to refer to it as Judea and Samaria like the extremist settlers do?
In case you haven't noticed or even care, hundreds of Palestinians have been murdered by settlers and the military.in the West Bank over the past year alone, but the only incident you bother to talk about is when it's an Israeli who's murdered. Why do you consider Israeli lives more.importsnt than Palestinians? I think the lives of all civilians are equally important and don't get how anyone can justify anything different.
Also, just correcting that false claim about Jewish Israelis not being able to set foot.in the West Bank without being murdered. The hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers living.in the West Bank would be mighty surprised to hear that. As for living amongst Palestinians, Amira Haas spent many years living in Ramallah. And not that you'll read it, but here's a link to an article about the extremist settlers who terrorise.and attack.Palestinians.

Truly, warriors of old must bow their heads in shame and the fearsomeness of those of our day.
Yes, I mock. What else can I do? They are proud to adorn their clans with ridicule and shame by their acts and I'm not one to declare a fool a wise man nor a swine an honorable leader.
