Airstrikes on crowded UN shelters in north Gazas Jabalia refugee camp killed more than 80 people on Saturday, as Israeli plans to expand operations into south Gaza deepened fears for hundreds of thousands of civilians who have sought refuge there.
Underlining the reminder that there is nowhere safe for Gazas civilians, an airstrike outside the southern town of Khan Younis killed at least 26 people in the early hours of Saturday morning.
North Gazas biggest hospital, al-Shifa, emptied of all but 120 of the most vulnerable patients and five doctors to care for them. As bombs continued to fall, the area had only basic medical resources for new victims.
At least 50 people were killed in a dawn attack on a UN-run school in the Jabalia camp, and a strike on another building there killed 32 members of a single family 19 of them children officials from the Hamas-run health ministry told AFP.

(2,317 posts)Statements from Hamas like they are reputable? Fox is way, way more reputable. Stop posting this propaganda from a group whose stated goal is the elimination of all Israelis.

(62,627 posts)That's a civilian target. I'll await the IDF's justification for bombing it.

As the Israel-Hamas war continues, UN-run schools in the refugee camps have become a place of shelter for many escaping the relentless humanitarian crisis. Hundreds of individuals are seeking shelter at these places while Israel entered offensive mode to eliminate the Hamas Islamist group.

(62,627 posts)It does not establish that Hamas fighters controlled that building or were even present there.

(7,611 posts)Here, the IDF is a military well versed in the laws of war. Much of that military was in the lead in opposition to Netanyahu for the past year. Their officers were not turned into genocidal robots overnight. If the IDF bombed a specific building, it was because they had intelligence that the building was a legitimate target.
The claims about genocide that get posted here are nonsense.

(7,611 posts)lot more than 12000 dead.
I defer to the IDF's judgment. I have no idea how many dead children. I don't even know what the definition of 'child' is in this context. Anyone under 18? In my personal experience teenagers are more than capable of firing a gun.

Countries sworn to uphold the laws of war still can kill non-combatants and even commit war crimes,
including the United States.

(7,611 posts)The specific intelligence the IDF was acting on and the specific intent of the officers making the decisions.
And even if a mistake was made or the judgement was wrong doesn't mean it's a war crime.
