Israel launched surprise airstrikes in Gaza overnight, targeting three commanders of the Islamic Jihad militant group, who were assassinated in their homes. The attacks killed a total of 13 people, including the wives and children of the men. The Israeli attack broke a ceasefire that had been reached last week after a spike in violence following the death of Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan in Israeli custody. As the occupying power, Israel has the obligation to protect the civilian population, says Phyllis Bennis, author and fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies. Instead, were seeing the expansion of an apartheid regime, and one which is prepared to use violence at extraordinary levels without a moments hesitation.

ART. 5. of the Fourth Geneva Convention states:
This clearly strips the three PIJ operatives killed in the raid of any protections by Israel. and makes them fair targets.
ART. 28. an 29 of the Convention state
ART. 29. The Party to the conflict in whose hands protected persons may be, is responsible for the treatment accorded to them by its agents, irrespective of any individual responsibility which may be incurred
This clearly places the responsibility to protect on PIJ, which they, not Israel, failed to do.
And her "Instead, were seeing the expansion of an apartheid regime, and one which is prepared to use violence at extraordinary levels without a moments hesitation. is delusional and borderline antisemitic on its face, especially considering how far apart it is from the topics she is commenting on.

Otzma Yehudit to boycott Knesset votes as tensions with Likud heat up Likud: If Netanyahu's decisions are unacceptable to Ben-Gvir, he can leave gov't
The Otzma Yehudit Party will boycott Knesset votes until Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implements a fully right-wing policy and enables its minister to influence the states national security policy, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Wednesday.
If the prime minister does not want a right-wing government, he is welcome to fire me, he said in a press statement while in Sderot. We will not attend votes in the Knesset until the prime minister internalizes and understands that we want a fully right-wing government, and that we are an inseparable part of the discussions and part of the implementation of the Israeli governments security policy.
Ben-Gvirs remarks indicate a spiraling rift in the coalition between Otzma Yehudit and the Likud. Tension began to rise on Tuesday, when Ben-Gvir demanded to attend the prime ministers security situation assessment after dozens of rockets were fired from Gaza, but he was not invited.

Israels five-day offensive in the Gaza Strip has reversed weeks of slipping popularity ratings for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party, a series of lightning polls indicated Sunday.
Surveys released Sunday evening by Channel 12 news, Channel 13 news and the Kan public broadcaster showed Likud faring better than in a string of recent polls, although the party and its current coalition partners would still fall short of the support needed to form a government were an election held today, according to the surveys.
