"Regarding President Trumps peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the instant conventional wisdom is that its a geopolitical nonstarter, a gift to Benjamin Netanyahu and an electoral ploy by the president to win Jewish votes in Florida rather than Palestinian hearts in Ramallah."
"It may be all of those things. But nobody will benefit less from a curt dismissal of the plan than the Palestinians themselves, whose leaders are again letting history pass them by."

The point is that the Palestinians have rejected every plan for almost one hundred years, and they haven't presented a reasonable plan of their own. That's not negotiating in good faith is it? This plan is what the Palestinians get for not negotiating in good faith. If they want to break the cycle of losing by saying no, then they need to come up with some response other than no. Don't say yes to this plan, but at least say something more constructive than just no.

(3,386 posts)Do you think any US President will be able to push the Israelis to give up more if the Palestinians won't give up Right of Return?

(3,386 posts)Just because I think that the Palestinians are more in the wrong, and haven't negotiated in good faith does not mean that I don't care about them. Do you really think that the Palestinian break off of relations helps them?
Yes, the Plan is in part about the elections, but not nearly all about them. Even so, the point is how the Palestinians continue to screw themselves with complete rejectionism. If this proposal isn't acceptable *(and I agree that it is not), then where is the Palestinian proposal?

.over yours any day .
I was born here
.my kids and grandchildren were born here .
We have served in the IDF for generations
.where do you get your hatred of the Palestinians from ???
My family have more reasons to hate them than you will ever have .
They are not our enemy
.my enemy is the religious right wing both mine and yours , led by Bibi and
Donald Trump .
The Palestinians deserve their own country with East Jerusalem as its capital .
Until they have that there will never be Peace .
This latest peace plan is a joke and an insult and if I was a Palestinian I would reject it too .

Of course the Palestinians deserve their own country. You have never read anything from me that says otherwise. And if you had actually read the article I posted or any of my subsequent responses on this thread, instead of going off emotionally, you'd know that I don't think the Plan is acceptable. In fact I think it was intended to not be acceptable. What the article and I find problematic is that the Palestinians always reject and then don't propose any plan of their own. That's what they've done in this case, and it's a losing strategy.
