Related: About this forumPM (Netanyahu): 'I care more about Palestinians than their own leaders do'
Cue Hamas supporters defending the stealing of millions of dollars in humanitarian aid for terror purposes.
...The prime minister does qualify that statement by first stating that it was "something that some of you will not believe." He addresses the recent revelations that humanitarian aid organization employees were transferring funds to Hamas, "the terrorist organization that rules Gaza."
He says, "A few days ago, the world learned that Hamas, the terrorist organization that rules Gaza, stole millions of dollars from humanitarian organizations like World Vision and the United Nations." Netanyahu is referring to two separate, yet related affairs. The first was that the international Christian non-profit organization World Vision's Gaza Strip director, Mohammed el-Halabi, confessed to siphoning about $7.2 million a year in humanitarian funds to Hamas over five years. This was reported by the Shin Bet.
The second revelation concerned the construction of a marina built by Hamas's military wing in the northern Gaza Strip that was financed with funds siphoned from the United Nations Development Agency (UNDP). According to an indictment filed against 38-year-old engineer Waheed Borsh from Jabalia (north of Gaza City), the Gazan funneled aid money from UNDP to the construction of the marina, which Hamas naval commandos intended to use for future operations and training.

I remember him saying he cared more about blacks that LBJ did because he wasn't going to force them out of the second class citizenship that they were content with.
A priest in church one Sunday said he would never tell people how to vote, unless they were going to vote for that "evil brainless fool who is running ads for Governor."

suppression of any people. Perhaps the treatment of Native Americans would be a closer analogy for what is being done to the Palestinian people, but South African apartheid also has a striking resemblance to the policies of the current right-wing government in Israel.

(30,109 posts)Their numbers are now miniscule. What happened to Jews in Arab nations after 1948, going from 900,000 to maybe a couple thousand today is a better analogy, but still one I wouldn't make due to those Jews and their descendants still being alive.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian population grows exponentially at a rate at least as fast as Israelis.
And Arabs within Israel have equal rights. Arabs outside of Israel are not citizens. No comparison to either S.Africa or the native Americans.

It seems as if World Vision has checked and double checked their records and their reaction to the allegations seems to be an incredulous WTF? And it seems as if the UNDP had a similar reaction:
Statement from Kevin Jenkins, President of World Vision International
Source: World Vision, AUGUST 9, 2016
(snip)
World Visions cumulative operating budget in Gaza for the past ten years was approximately US$22.5 million, which makes the alleged amount of up to US$50 million being diverted hard to reconcile. Mohammad El Halabi was the manager of our Gaza operations only since October 2014; before that time he managed only portions of the Gaza budget. World Visions accountability processes cap the amount individuals in management positions at his level to a signing authority of US$15,000.
Our staff hiring processes aim to ensure that we employ people who are qualified, committed to our values and who pose no risk to our partners, communities or our programes. World Vision uses background checks and the well-regarded WatchDOG Elite system to screen staff against approximately 20 blocked-party lists.

(Amira Hass) Israel's Allegations Against World Vision: Credible Charges or Political Ploy?
Source: Haaretz, Aug 09, 2016
On Monday the international aid organization World Vision said that the total budget for its Gaza Strip branch during the last 10 years is much smaller than the sums Israel's Shin Bet security service claims were transferred to Hamas. But even before this statement was made, people working in humanitarian aid organizations, and associates and relatives of the detained World Vision employee, Mohammed Halabi, commented that the accusations are unreasonable.

Israel Claims UN Aid Official Abused Position to Help Hamas

The statement added that the "rubble removal project was established to respond to the consequences of the 2014 hostilities in Gaza" and that "the allegations concerning Mr. Al Bursh by the Israeli authorities refer to 300 tons of the more than one million tons removed, or 7 truckloads out of a total of nearly 26,000." According to the UNDP, "the rubble removal project is considered essential for the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza following the conflict."

How about when you claimed Breaking the Silence never made a false claim?
You've been wrong before placing blind faith and trust into these organizations.
The defense will be provided all the evidence soon, so we'll see...

(6,171 posts)It was revealed later that they were indeed right.
Unfortunately for you, BTS has never made a false claim and your evidence fails to prove that they did.
In this case, Netanyahu's allegations are currently no more than a probable hoax - highly unlikely when there's not a shred of evidence supporting them, while at the same time all the available evidence seems to imply it's all a hoax. Netanyahu (he's apparently the self-appointed prosecutor now) must back up his allegations, but he seems to be remarkably reluctant to do so.
I'm not saying that this is a hoax, it just looks like a hoax...

(30,109 posts)Australia and Germany have already halted their contributions to World Vision. They've worked with the Israelis enough to trust that these allegations against the charity are more than likely true.
I realize that Israel haters, BDS'ers, and anti-semites believe Jews lie all the time - and especially Israelis - but reasonable objective people who know anything about Israel know this would be one helluva stupid bluff & very bad for Israeli PR if the allegations are nothing but a hoax.

Waheed Borsh, 38, is charged by Israel with transfering 300 tons of rubble to help build a Hamas naval facility
The United Nations on Saturday said a Gaza employee had diverted tons of rubble on instructions from the Palestinian Authority (PA) days after Israel charged him with aiding Islamist movement Hamas.
Engineer Waheed Abd Allah Bossh, 38, who worked for the UN Development Program (UNDP), was arrested on July 16 and accused by Israel of being recruited by a Hamas member to redirect his work for UNDP to serve Hamass military interests.
He was charged in an Israeli court with diverting 300 tons of rubble from a UNDP project in the coastal enclave to a Hamas operation to build a jetty for its naval force.
Hamas, the Islamist rulers of the Gaza Strip since 2007, have denied any involvement.
UNDP said that after reviewing Bosshs charge sheet which was made public on Tuesday it had established that the rubble in question was transported to its destination according to written instructions from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Palestinian Authority as to where it should be placed.
