Each year, pollsters ask American voters who they sympathize with more between Israel and Palestine. In 2016, Americans sympathized with Israel over Palestine 54 percent-19 percent per Pew, and 62 percent-15 percent per Gallup. Both pollsters found that large margined majorities/pluralities of Republicans, Democrats, and independents sympathize with Israel.

Put another way, if Israel and Palestine were presidential nominees, Israel would win 50 states and DC and all 538 electoral votes. Presidents Nixon and Reagan won nationally by 23 percent and 18 percent, respectively, point margins and captured 49 states. Israel’s 35 percent (Pew) and 47 percent (Gallup) margins would easily grab that last one.

The results continue a decades’ long trend — one which strengthened after 2001. By acquiescing to Bernie Sanders’s platform committee choices James Zogby and Cornel West (both BDS supporters who seek to alter the platform regarding Israel/Palestine), Democrats risk allowing the far-left to affect the presidential race.

The fact that many Republicans appreciated the Sanders message should tell the party wonks that much.

For years, polls on single issues have all come down solidly on the left/liberal side of things, no matter the party identification or political philosophy claimed by the poll takers. Probably 80% of the Sanders message is mainstream.

This is what the conservatives in the halls of power need to understand. We the people have been bled dry. We've finally noticed and unless they want more Trumps, they're going to have to do something constructive about it. "More of the same" will not sell.

As for the effect on Israel, perhaps they should concentrate on cleaning up their own house first. That goes for Palestinian Arabs, too.

At the height of the U.S. presidential and congressional election campaigns, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer will attend a conference dealing with strategies for retaining the Republican Party’s majorities in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The conference, which was organized by the Faith & Freedom Coalition and labeled "The Road to Majority," will take place in Washington on Thursday. Dermer will be the only foreign ambassador to speak at the conference and the only speaker who is not a Republican congressman. Dermer will speak at the official conference dinner, coming right after Senator Marco Rubio, who was a contender for the Republican presidential nomination, and Senator Chuck Grassley, the head of the Senate’s Justice Committee.

According to a Pew poll, 40% of liberal Democrats support the Palestinians, while 33% support Israel.

Your observation is not correct. The author claims that the far left is affecting the election. that does not mean that liberal Democrats are the Far Left. It just means that they are influenced by the Left. Unfortunately, that is becoming more and more true.
