[div class="excerpho·ly

adjective
1.
dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred.
"the Holy Bible"
synonyms: sacred, consecrated, hallowed, sanctified, sacrosanct, venerated, revered, divine, religious, blessed, dedicated
"a Jewish holy place"
2.
datedhumorous
used in exclamations of surprise or dismay.
"holy smoke!""]
Nothing in the history violates the first definition.
The Pyramids in Mexico City were defined as holy, and they ripped the beating hearts out of their sacrifices. So much blood was spilled there that Archeologists have found blood still saturates the ground under the pyramids.

No other region of the world has generated as much zealotry, intolerance, persecution, misery, and genocide.

If you doubt that last word, read your bible about some of the victories of the godly.

it's probably been more peaceful than anywhere in Europe. Before that, not so much.
