Belgium terror hotline operator to Jewish caller: Israel doesn’t exist

In it, a man who presented himself as a volunteer for Antwerp’s Jewish Coordination Committee told the operator in Flemish that he was calling on behalf of two people who were injured in the March 22 attacks in Brussels and wish to be discharged as they are “being prepared to be transported to Israel.” The caller asked about the procedure for discharging them.

At least 32 people died in a series of suicide bombings last week at Zaventem Airport near Brussels and at a central metro station, which the Islamic State terrorist group said it planned and executed.

In the recording, the operator can be heard responding: “That’s actually… See… Back to Palestine.” The Jewish caller insisted: “Not Palestine, Israel,” prompting another correction by the operator, who retorted: “Yes, but that was before Palestine, of course.” He also said about Israel: “It’s called Palestine, sir.”

I can't believe they have to put up with this shit. If I were a Jew in Brussels, I would be packing my bags because it sure doesn't sound like the cops have any interest in stopping the terrorists.

with their disastrous "open door policy" on immigration lately. If this person doesn't get fucking fired, they're completely lost.

black , white , pink or green .

Jewish , Christian , Muslim or whatever .

Haters are going to hate ...whether it be because of religion, color or nationality , homosexuality or just plain being female with an opinion .

Europe is no worse or better than America .

And the problem of Jew hatred is much much bigger and more dangerous in Europe- even though human beings are the same worldwide.

I do think person obviously felt no problem at all in stating - while on the job - that Israel doesn't exist. That doesn't fill me with fuzzy good feelings about what is seen as acceptable conversation. It's not like it wasn't well known that at least one person hurt during the attack was going to Israel - I read about it in several places. I have to think it was even BETTER known in Belgium. But the larger question of whether Jews are safe in Brussels (and other European cities) has a very murky answer. I don't understand why you felt the need to point out that was a sincere question - I wouldn't have thought anything else from you.

There's a lot of racism going on in Belgium, and I feel that this is only one aspect of a pretty big problem.

“As soon as the forum was informed of the incident, early this morning, we have contacted the different authorities for their immediate action. According to the latest news the crisis center operator has been fired by the agency who employed him.”

Telling Jewish Israelis that their country doesn't exist was perhaps not the smartest thing to do.
