Coyotes can get pretty big. The way I can tell it's a coyote is that it's not all that big, the legs don't look too long which is a tattle-tale sign, the tail almost reaches the ground and it has a pointy muzzle. If you could see its feet, that would be another way to tell, wolves have huge feet with large toe pads.

In the video, that animal barely clears the bumper on a couple of the vehicles passing by it. And, coyotes are more likely to be aggressive than wolves, believe it or not.

and would think nothing of strolling down a snowy street in full view of Dawg and everybody.

Wolves are much less likely to venture into town. Oddly, it is the same with black bears and grizzly/brown bears. You'd think the smaller cousins would be less troublesome and less aggressive. That's not the case.

Where I used to live we had wolves come to town but we were surrounded by forest for many miles and had a few packs near our area, some from one pack would take a short cut through... but we were a tiny town, not a huge city like Montreal.

I've seen lots of wolves and coyotes over many years and sometimes I'm not sure about an animal if I can't get a good look... the one in the vid fits with coyote profile and behavior for all the reasons both of us identified.
