Paul and I tried this burger for breakfast (don't judge, we were third shifters for many years). First off, the directions say to cook in a skillet or on a grill, not to bake or microwave.
I fried it in a little grapeseed oil and topped it with Daiya cheddar cheese.
Paul and I were in agreement. The burger is fairly tasteless, considering what the ingredients are. We didn't add anything beyond the cheese, and came away slightly disappointed.
The other thing that ensured we'd probably not buy them again was the nutrition facts. One four ounce party has 260 calories, 140 of which are from fat. It does boast 23 grams of protein, but also 16 grams of fat. I know some might not be too concerned about the numbers, but they're a little too high for us.
At the price we paid for them, it's very unlikely we'll be getting them again. There are four burgers to a box.

(29,414 posts)I've been buying their sliced 'singles' (rounds separated by paper) and then making grilled cheese sandwiches with them. The big difference between one made with 'real' cheese is that the Daiya cheese doesn't solidify nearly as quickly. It remains gooey and hot much longer.
Thanks for the review on the burger patty. I don't buy any of them much any more, though it's good to know what to stay away from should I find myself trying something new

Well, except the fat content, especially the canola oil.

(113,131 posts)since I had to forgo my beloved Boca Burgers because of the gluten in them.
The only other burgers I ever liked were Sun Burgers back in the 70s, made from okara.
Everything else has been texturally challenged (musharama), and for that I'll use my own recipes that start off with brown lentils.

(10,345 posts)My wife and I were quite excited to see what Beyond Meat had to offer in regards to a meatless burger after being wowed by their chicken alternatives.
But... These burgers were somewhat tasteless, the texture was alright and the patties are large but LORD, that PRICE for that quantity? I guess it's because of the premium ingredients? No doubt it's a healthy burger but DAMN.
I won't be buying that again.
