Peak Oil
Related: About this forumAbiotic oil theory
Of course its been proven to be false but knowing how big money can sometimes obscure reality what if the 100 million barrels of oil we use globally every day didnt come from decaying vegetation but is instead a natural by product of the internal chemistry of the Earths dynamic inner engine..
If i was a big oil company this is the very last piece of scientific data that i'd want to be out there.

The production figures year after year show that we are still consuming oil far faster than it is being replenished. So abiotic or not, the supplies are running out.
Suppose the water pipe leading into your home only supplied 1 gallon per day. Could you run a household on that? It doesn't matter whether there is new oil being created or not if it's not being created fast enough, and it's pretty obvious that it's not being created fast enough. So in the final analysis, even if oil were being produce abiotically, it wouldn't matter.

(797 posts)are you using as a measure of replenishment, meaning how can you judge that we are running out of oil without knowing how much oil there is in the first place..

If we were NOT running out of oil our production numbers wouldn't be plummeting they way they are.
Wake up and smell the reality.

(770 posts)But I suppose we may be producing close to 100 million barrels per day if we add biofuels and condensates? Also, the theory is wrong...liquid hydrocarbons bear markers showing biogenic origin in shales which have to be exposed to the right temperature and pressure ranges.

(20 posts)Oh my, oh my, oh my. So many theories, so little facts.
US peaked when? Then why is current production approaching an all-time high? Can you say new technology?
